Time for Renewal, Transition and Change

Know Your Worth

Never underestimate a person’s challenges. Everyone is struggling. Some are just better at hiding it than others. Their plates are spinning, and some are falling on the floor.

Too often, we judge people too quickly or subjectively. We tell ourselves stories about them without thinking it through. Our perceptions and biases get the best of us. We need to stop assuming that people who are doing it different are doing it wrong. At the end of the day, you do not need to be perfect to be accepted by others. None of us are perfect.

It is extremely easy for someone to glean one small fact about another person and immediately begin to underestimate them without realizing it. Because of this, so many of us are being underestimated for circumstances out of our control.

I know how it feels to be underestimated. I know how it feels when low expectations have been heaped upon me without a second thought. I have, however, learned a few incredible lessons about being underestimated, and I have learned, for the most part, to combat the pressures of being underappreciated.

Educate those that are doing the misunderstanding. Everyone has a story, and it can be therapeutic to open up and share. You do not have to share your life with everyone you meet. Misinformation and lack of understanding play a considerable part in the underappreciation of others. Surround yourself with like-minded people who understand you. Then, everyone can keep moving forward. Know your worth.
